Deception Detector feature added to Bumble Dating

Bumble, the online dating and networking application, has introduced an innovative feature called the “Deception Detector”. This AI-powered tool aims to combat spam, scams, and fake profiles, enhancing user safety and trust within the platform.

Here’s how the Deception Detector works:

  1. Automated Identification: The Deception Detector operates automatically, swiftly identifying and blocking 95% of spam or scam accounts. It uses machine learning algorithms to assess the authenticity of profiles.
  2. Verification and Trustworthiness: By verifying flagged profiles, the Deception Detector contributes to creating a more trustworthy environment for Bumble users. Unlike some other safety tools (such as “block and report,” “photo verification,” or “private detector”), users do not directly interact with the Deception Detector.
  3. Global Moderation Team: Bumble’s global team of moderators supports the Deception Detector. They investigate reports related to potential fake profiles, catfishing, abuse, or any behavior that violates Bumble’s guidelines.
  4. User Action: If users suspect a fake profile, they can utilize the “block + report” feature to notify Bumble’s member safety team, prompting appropriate action.

This proactive approach helps address concerns related to fake profiles, especially in regions like Singapore, where internet love scams have been prevalent. Bumble’s commitment to user safety is evident through the implementation of the Deception Detector, which significantly reduces spam and scam profiles
